Opel Vivaro e-Concept Hybrid Van

Opel unveils its Vivaro e-Concept plug-in electric van at the 2010 IAA Commercial Vehicles Fair in Hannover, Germany. This concept was built to demonstrate the benefits of electrification to commercial vehicle operators.

The Vivaro’s 111 kw (149 hp) electric engine delivers 370 Nm of torque and a pure electric range of 100 km (62 miles). An unspecified range extender gives the van an additional 300 km (186 mile) range.

Spy Video: 2011 Opel Zafira MPV

Caught on film out and about at the Nurburgring track in Germany, the camouflaged prototype confirms that the new Opel (Vauxhall) Zafira won’t get the funky FlexDoor system with the rear-hinged back doors of the Meriva, and will continue to use a conventional five-door layout instead.

Opel’s ‘Lifetime Warranty’

Opel / Vauxhall seems to catching a little flack for pushing a lifetime warranty on its vehicles. What’s wrong with that? It seems as if German competition authorities don’t like it, and have gone so far as take legal action against the company for “misleading advertising”. Just because some of the competition isn’t offering warranties providing similar care does not exactly warrant lawsuits.

The term “lifetime” can be a little vague and confusing. Naturally, it isn’t meant for YOUR entire life, but a significant amount of time during the car’s existence (in this case, repair costs will be covered on cars with fewer than 160,000 Km or 100,000 miles). As with a lot of warranties, major mechanical and electrical systems (engine, transmission, steering, wiring/fuses) will be covered; wear-and-tear items, as expected, will not be.

2012 Opel Astra GTC

Look at the first spy photos of the new three-door Opel Astra in OPC trimaround that was caught near the Nurburgring.

The Astra OPC could get 27 % more power courtesy of a 296 bhp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It is having large Brembo brakes which can be seen through the wheels, as well as cross-drilled discs. It looks like having dark tinted lenses over the headlamps.

New engines for Opel / Vauxhall Insignia

Opel added several engines in the Insignia range (known as the Buick Regal in the U.S.) for better economy and CO2 emissions. In the five-door liftback and four-door sedan ecoFLEX models, emissions have now dropped from 136g/km to 129g/km, with a corresponding improvement in fuel consumption from 54.3mpg UK [5.2lt/100km] combined, to 57.6mpg UK [4.9lt/100km]. As a result of the lower emissions, UK customers won’t have to pay VED for the first year.

VIDEO: Opel Astra Sports Tourer

The new Opel Astra Sports Tourer will be shown this summer with a Paris Motor Show debut to follow in autumn 2010. The Astra Sports Tourer looks like a smaller version of the Opel Insignia station wagon boasting a more raked roofline and a less boxy / conservative shape than the current model.

Corsa’s England Soccer Team Decal Kit

Look at the Vauxhall’s set of England flag decals for the three-door Corsa. The new kit, which includes the same style decals that flow from the Corsa’s headlamps right the way along its sides with a pair of matching mirror caps as the German-market model, is available from Vauxhall retailers for £149 fully fitted and including VAT.

Look at the first spy shots of the new Opel Corsa OPC Nürburgring Edition special.

The new Opel Corsa OPC, based on the standard OPC, should basically be the version of the Astra-based 2008 Nürburgring Edition model. That means it’ll most likely come with the standard Corsa OPC’s 192-horsepower (141 kW) / 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) turbocharged 1.6 liter mill and extra add-ons.

Vauxhall Astra VXR Arctic Special Edition

Vauxhall has adding to the allure of the current version of the Astra VXR with the presentation of a limited production model called “Arctic Edition”.

Only 500 units of the Astra’s Arctic Edition are offered in the UK with prices set at £23, 595 on the road.

All are painted in Olympic White with a contrasting black painted roof, mirror covers, front V-grille and tailgate trim. Each Arctic Edition also gets £1965 worth of options including heated leather Recaro front seats, tinted glass and Black 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
