A new more powerful diesel has been added under to the Vauxhall Insignia line up in the UK. The 2.0-liter unit delivers an output of 195PS at 4,000 rpm. The new Vauxhall diesel is based on the existing 2.0 CDTi used on several Vauxhall models such as the Insignia, Astra and new Zafira Tourer range but in the Insignia BiTurbo.

The added power unit reduces the 0-60mph time by nearly one second to 8.2 seconds for the Insignia FWD Hatch.

The Vauxhall BiTurbo model is actually more fuel-efficient than the single turbo version thanks to a suite of eco features that include standard Start/Stop system, with the FWD Hatch returning a combined 57.6mpg UK, 2.2mpg better than the single-turbo 2.0 CDTi 160PS model.

The new Insignia BiTurbo is available with a choice of five-door Hatch and Sports Tourer bodies in SRi, SRi Vx-line and Elite trims, with UK prices starting from £27,120 OTR.

Power of the hot Astra is derived from a new 2.0-litre turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine capable of 280-horsepower that are channeled to the front wheels via 6-speed manual gearbox and a specially developed mechanical limited slip differential.

GM’s European division said that the Astra OPC / Astra VXR can reach a top speed of 250km/h but did not give out a 0-100km/h sprint time.

The hottest Astra OPC / VXR also benefits from a raft of bespoke chassis mods including Brembo brakes and a retuned suspension with the firm’s fully adaptive FlexRide system that features three settings: Normal, Sport and VXR/OPC, with the latter promising more focused stages of damper, throttle and steering control.

The interior gains a pair of scrumptious sport bucket seats with embossed logos in the backs, a flat-bottomed and thick-rimmed sports steering wheel and upgraded instrument panels.

When buying a used car it is advisable to take out a warranty, especially if it’s over a certain age. Mechanical malfunction on an older car is obviously more commonplace but it doesn’t need to ruin the goods value of your used vehicle. The benefits of a warranty are not exclusive to a new vehicle; they can also be reaped by the used car owner at a reasonable cost.

On a new car, the warranty can range from between three years and seven years. It protects the buyer from mechanical breakdown for the given period of time. This provides the peace of mind that you will not be hit by any unseen major financial outlays for at least the period of your warranty. A warranty covers most mechanical breakdown including engines, gearboxes, electrics, transmissions. They do not cover wear and tear. For example, if a tyre wore out to below the legal level, you could not claim a new tyre. If there was a fault with the gearbox or radiator, it would generally be covered.

The same rules apply to a used car warranty although it does not always come as part of the package. Often when you buy a used car, the dealer will have a six month warranty in place but may offer you the opportunity to extend it to a year. This can be a good deal as you will benefit from a slight discount that the dealer receives from his provider and it can sometimes be haggled into the price of your car.

If you buy a warranty independently there are a host of companies on the internet ready to provide. The details should always be checked and compared to see what you are covered for but as a general rule it will be mechanical malfunction rather than wear and tear as mentioned previously.

A used car warranty is the opportunity to gain benefit from a discounted vehicle and have the assurance that you won’t be losing your savings through costly repairs.

www.motors.co.uk have cars all over the UK for example if you live in the merseyside area check out used cars liverpool.

Opel’s hybrid aren’t expected to begin until 2012, but the company is already planning the successor to the Chevy Volt’s European alter-ego. The second generation of the Opel / Vauxhall Ampera is scheduled for release in 2015 and it feature a more radical design and a lower starting price than the current model.

In the UK, the Vauxhall Ampera costs a rather steep £28,995. Opel engineers say that the battery pack alone costs around &pound7,000 but improvements in technology in the next four years will enable the company to reduce the cost by 50%.

Opel CEO Nick Reilly said the price of the Ampera will be further reduced by economies of scale due to increased demand and more localized production: “We have an education job to do on the technology of the Ampera, but that will come in time. We hope that it will establish itself as a market leader and we’ll be able to capitalize on that with a cheaper, more expressively designed second generation model”.

GM has to first assess sales of the model before it goes ahead with any decision, such as manufacturing its next generation in Europe, as it currently builds it alongside the Volt at its Warren, Michigan plant in the US. So far, things are looking good since 7,000 of the 10,000 units allocated for 2012 are already presold, with 75% of the sales going to fleet customers.

Opel would also like to give the next-gen Ampera a more aggressive style that will be more in line with the other models in its range.

The Opel’s designers didn’t have a lot of freedom in the first generation because of the restraints forced on them by the car being a rebadged Volt. If they get the green light, the 2015 model will follow the company’s new design, recently previewed in the brand-new Opel Zafira Tourer.

Good news for Astra fans. The spies have filmed the new Opel (Vauxhall) Astra Convertible on test in Germany.

The 2013 Opel Astra Convertible is planned to go on sale by early 2013. The most important change over the previous Astra TwinTop is the replacement of the more complicated, heavier and costly retractable metal roof with a traditional fabric hood.

The test models are heavily based on the freshly revealed Opel Astra GTC sport hatchback featuring a longer rear end to improve the car’s looks and increase the available space for the rear passengers and the luggage compartment. Inside, the Astra Convertible will have room for four passengers with individual seats.

Opel will most likely tease the Astra Convertible with a near production concept model either in Frankfurt this fall or in Geneva next spring.

The Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition is a limited series version of Opel’s hatch of which only 500 units will be produced. The special edition Corsa OPC receives an increase of 18HP, so that the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine goes from 192 to 210HP, posting an impressive power rating of 131.4 hp per liter.

The added power is achieved through a new ECU, a modified turbocharger, a sports exhaust with reduced backpressure and optimization for 100-octane fuel. Maximum torque has also been increased to 250 Nm, with 280 Nm available when the overboost function is activated. In terms of performance, the Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition hits 100 km/h from a standing start in 6.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). It also completes the 80 to 120 km/h acceleration in 5th gear in 6.2 seconds.

OPC engineers fitted the FWD Corsa with a mechanical, multi-plate limited-slip differential that helps recuce wheel spin during cornering, making the Corsa OPC ideal for the racetrack. The chassis has also been retuned, with the car sporting a lower ride height, new Bilstein springs and dampers and a new lightweight front braking system from Brembo. In addition, systems such as the ABS, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control have been recalibrated to suit the car’s new configuration.

The Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition is available in two exclusive body colors, red “Henna” and apple-green “Grasshopper”, as well as with new 18-inch forged aluminum wheels in high-gloss grey. Other new features include a front spoiler lip, a new stainless steel dual exhaust system and Nurburgring logos on the B-pillars. On the inside, the Corsa features Recaro sports seats with white stitching and unique sill plates.

Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition is available in Germany for €27.650 ($40,150), while its Vauxhall-badged alter-ego costs £22,295 in Britain.
