A new more powerful diesel has been added under to the Vauxhall Insignia line up in the UK. The 2.0-liter unit delivers an output of 195PS at 4,000 rpm. The new Vauxhall diesel is based on the existing 2.0 CDTi used on several Vauxhall models such as the Insignia, Astra and new Zafira Tourer range but in the Insignia BiTurbo.

The added power unit reduces the 0-60mph time by nearly one second to 8.2 seconds for the Insignia FWD Hatch.

The Vauxhall BiTurbo model is actually more fuel-efficient than the single turbo version thanks to a suite of eco features that include standard Start/Stop system, with the FWD Hatch returning a combined 57.6mpg UK, 2.2mpg better than the single-turbo 2.0 CDTi 160PS model.

The new Insignia BiTurbo is available with a choice of five-door Hatch and Sports Tourer bodies in SRi, SRi Vx-line and Elite trims, with UK prices starting from £27,120 OTR.

Prices for the updated Antara SUV start from £19,995 for the 2.2 CDTi Exclusiv front-wheel drive model, which represents a saving of £2,835 over the outgoing base version.
The 2011 model’s revised Euro-5 compliant engine line-up includes a newly-developed 2.2-liter CDTI turbodiesel in two states of tune with 163HP or 184HP. The 163HP version is available in front-wheel drive with a six-speed manual transmission only or all-wheel drive hooked up to either a manual or six-speed auto gearbox.

The Vauxhall Antara will not be offered in the UK with the revised 170HP 2.4-liter gasoline engine of its Opel sibling.

Vauxhall is planning a small urban car. Inspired by the clever Trixx concept, described as a 3-plus-1 seater, the model is aimed at the Toyota iQ and the upcoming Volkswagen Up!

The Vauxhall Trixx will be based on GM’s Voltec drivetrain but will completely eschew the range-extended 1.4-liter engine in favor of going fully electric with a goal of hitting a 90-mile range between charges.

The new Vauxhall is on track to achieve 90 miles between top-ups – making it perfect for city drivers, but that may not actually be the case. The lithium ion battery pack powering the Trixx could cost as much as £8,000 ($12,100) per unit to make. To counteract the high cost of entry, Vauxhall may sell the actual car while offering a separate lease for the battery.
