The 2011 Opel Meriva’s test mule has been spied on the roads. The new Meriva will go on sale in 2010.

A closer look reveals that aside from the jacked-up ride height, the prototype also features wider track. Expect to see the Meriva being offered in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive forms. As for the engine range, the ’soft-roader’ will be offered with the same variety of diesel and gasoline units as the standard Meriva including a 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol unit with outputs ranging from 120 hp to 140 HP.

The new Opel Meriva will most likely feature a beefed-up look with raised height and the traditional ‘off-road’ styling cues like muscular wheelarches, heavy body cladding, larger roof rails and unique bumpers that will help to differentiate it from the standard car.

The new Opel Astra based on GM’s new Delta platform and will make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show this September.

The 2010 Opel Astra will also benefit from GM’s new 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine offered with outputs ranging from 120 hp to 140 hp and torque values of 175 to 200 Nm. Opel claims that this unit will deliver an approximate 8% improvement in fuel consumption compared to the naturally aspirated 1.6 and 1.8-liter engines that it will replace. We all waiting for Frankfurt.

The latest 4×4 four-wheel-drive Corsa was caught on way to dealership. The Corsa 4×4 a Opel’s supermini SUV which is set to follow in the wheeltracks of the Antara when it goes on sale early in 2010.

These are expected to give greater off-road ability without ruining the standard car’s nimble, secure manners on the tarmac. The production version of the vehicle will also get tough looks, including rugged bumpers and body armour. There will also be under-body protection, along with a unique alloy wheel design.

The newcomer will sit at the top of the firm’s supermini range, next to the replacement Meriva, which was unveiled as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Despite the new Corsa’s SUV tag, bosses are keen to ensure that it is viewed as a frugal, low-emission car, rather than a gas-guzzling 4×4. As a result, it will bring together the firm’s most efficient powertrains, including a new diesel and a range of low-capacity, high-economy petrol turbos. In addition, the firm’s excellent 1.3 and 1.7-litre CDTI oil-burners will be tuned for low-down torque and refinement.

GM would like to sell 120,000 units annually.

The Opel Insignia Hatchback has been spied totally undisguised. The Insignia hatch, possibly to be known as the CombiCoupe or Fliessheck, mimics the lines of the sedan everywhere but the rear section. The liftgate of the new Insignia looks to be of good size, and promises to add a measure of utility to the car that won’t be possible with a mere truck.

No word about this configuration could make it to American Saturn dealers, though the GM brand’s recent willingness to stock its showrooms with straight Euro copies is encouraging.

Look at the spy shots of Opel’s upcoming Insignia sedan that will replace the Vectra in Europe, and the Saturn Aura in the United States. The new images give us a clearer view of the mid-size sedan’s exterior styling which is heavily inspired from the 2007 GTC Concept. The Insignia which is based on GM’s Epsilon-2 platform, is to be unveiled at the London motor show in 2008 with sales beginning in Europe shortly after.

Opel plans to unveil a sporty edition of the Insignia bearing the OPC logo that will be powered by an updated version of the current Vectra OPC’s 2.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine delivering approximately 300 HP. The Insignia OPC will get a four-wheel-drive system.
