New 195-HP turbodiesel Astra GTS

Opel’s British division unveiled today a new turbodiesel Astra, packing a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel four with 195 horsepower. The sequential twin-turbo oil-burner is the same as Vauxhall offers in the larger Insignia, all that twist helps the Astra GTC BiTurbo run from 0 to 62 mph in 7.8 seconds en route to a 139 mph top speed.

2013 Opel Astra Sedan

Today Opel unveils the all-new Astra sedan, the fourth and last member of the Astra family. If you have already seen Buick Verano, the 2013 Opel Astra sedan won’t surprise you. There are some styling changes limited to the front and rear ends with the European model sporting the typical Astra face and new tail lamps that ditch the Buick’s chrome ‘eyebrows’ along with a restyled boot that integrates a spoiler in its design.

Vauxhall Ampera – A Challenger to the Prius?

The Vauxhall Ampera is a hybrid car manufactured by General Motors. This hybrid car is also sold under the following names: (1) Chevrolet Volt, (2) Opel Ampera, (3) and Holden Volt. The production of this five door hatchback began in December 2011, in Detroit, Michigan. The Vauxhall Ampera has since achieved impressive accolades including being named as the most fuel efficient car by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The Vauxhall Ampera has also been named as the 2011 North American Car of the Year, 2012 European Car of the Year, and 2011 Green Car of the Year. It has a 148-break horsepower with a wheelbase of 2685mm, a length of 4498mm, a width of 2126mm, and a height of 1438mm.

Opel and Vauxhall Present Three New Engines

Opel today announced plans to renew its engine lineup with three new gasoline and diesel families that will replace current engines.Today Opel has revealed details on one engine family, a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline unit with direct injection and Start/Stop.

Opel Adam will debut at the Paris Motor Show

Great news for Opel’s fans! Opel today revealed the name of upcoming city car, which was officially known by its code name ‘Junior’. The new small city model is called Adam. Why? I think it is a name of the German automaker’s founder, Adam Opel. Opel officially released only a couples of pictures of a camouflaged mule and commercial video.

Opel Builds 500,000th Insignia

Opel builds 500,000th Insignia at its Russelsheim plant. Its a white Insignia Sports Tourer fitted with Opel’s new 192hp (195PS) 2.0 BiTurbo diesel engine. Opel already sold 150,000 Insignias in Europe with the UK and Germany remaining the biggest markets with 46,000 and 26,000 deliveries respectively, less than four years after its market launch in October of 2008. There are about 40 percent were Sports Tourers (station wagon), 40 percent were five-door liftbacks and 20 percent were sedans.

Spy Shots: 2013 Opel Astra Convertible

The test mule of the new Opel Astra Convertible was caught by spy photographers. The mule caught on camera is an early prototype as the front doors are carried over from the hatchback model complete with their frames. The production version will have frameless windows and seating for four passengers.

The most important change over the older Astra TwinTop is the replacement of the retractable metal roof with a traditional fabric hood, which will look much better than the temporary solution seen on this prototype.

Vauxhall Corsa

The Vauxhall Corsa has been about in various guises since Opel’s 1982 editions. The Corsa as we know it has been on our roads since 1993. It has become a brand synonymous with British motoring and is constantly amongst the best sellers on the UK’s roads. Corsa is one of Vauxhall’s proudest brands and has recently enjoyed the same revamp as the Vectra (now Insignia). Vauxhall’s have blown off the design cobwebs of the past and are now looked upon as leaders in car aesthetics.

Opel Mokka Crossover

Opel published a fresh set of photos the new small Mokka Crossover, including the first shots of the interior. The Opel Mokka and the Buick Encore that was revealed at last Detroit Motor Show are one and the same with the only differences concerning the design of the front grille, the interior trims and the available engine choices.
